Do you think you are the next Food Network star?

Food Network is holding open casting calls and accepting applications by mail for the Next Food Network Star.

According to a Food Network announcement: "Do you think you have what it takes to be a TV star and host your own show? Here's your chance!"

They are looking for:

• Cooking know-how: You can be self-taught or professionally trained or somewhere in between, but you should know the basics.

• Personality that pops: Let yourself shine and show us who you really are. Don't be shy. We are all about personality — show us yours!

• Teaching skills: Bring the world of food and cooking to life in your very own passionate and unique way.

How to apply: There are a few ways to apply. You can upload a 2-3 minute video OR send in a DVD/mini DV tape (PLEASE DO NOT SEND IN HI8, VHS, OR CD ROM FORMAT) that explains why we should consider you for Season 5 of The Next Food Network Star. Then, download the application below and send it in no later than October 31, 2008.

Auditions will be held in Los Angeles, Charleston, Portland and Philadelphia.

Applicants should bring an application, photograph and resume and/or bio to the auditions, which will allow them to meet with network casting directors.
